EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - On Homecoming Saturday, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team made it three straight over Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponents. Now with two straight WIAC sweeps, the Blugolds topped the UW-Oshkosh Titans in straight sets.

Eau Claire came out of the gates strong, dominating the first set and winning 25-16. They out-hit the Titans .308 to .188 in the opener.

Set two saw a decrease in both teams' efficiency. However, the Blugolds' .211 attack percentage was enough to better Oshkosh's .043, and the former took the set 25-20.

Set three was definitely the closest, as Oshkosh had the Blugolds up against the ropes, leading late 23-20. The home squad would not be denied the sweep in front of the capacity crowd, and they put up five straight points for the victory.

Madelyn Pashibin (Jr.-Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis Southwest) finished with a team-high 12 kills on 34 attempts. Krista Meyer (Fr.-Germantown, WI) and Jessica Coyne (Jr.-Verona, WI) each tallied nine kills of their own. Meyer's .350 percentage led the Blugolds.

Also leading the Blugolds in their respective stat categories were Madison Surprise (Jr.-Appleton, WI/Kimberly) with 34 assists and Talia Jaskulske (Sr.-Maplewood, MN/North Saint Paul) with 14 digs on the night.

Following Saturday's Homecoming contest, the Blugolds now set their sights on a brief non-conference stint. On Wednesday, they face St. Thomas (Minn.), and next weekend they host the 2017 Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament. All four matches next week will take place at the McPhee Center.
