No. 14 Gusties top Blugolds in three sets

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The 2017 Nike/Eastbay Fall Classic began play on Friday night, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team faced a difficult task in their opener. The Blugolds were defeated in straight sets by Gustavus Adolphus College by scores of 25-22, 25-20, and 25-21.

The Gusties out-hit UW-Eau Claire in all three sets, finishing with a team attack of .261 to the Blugolds' .176.

Team leaders for Eau Claire were Madelyn Pashibin (Jr.-Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis Southwest) with ten kills, Madison Surprise (Jr.-Appleton, WI/Kimberly) with 32 assists, and Talia Jaskulske (Sr.-Maplewood, MN/North St. Paul) with 15 digs. Pashibin's kills came on 21 attacks, finishing with a .381 clip.

The Blugolds will need to flush the loss as they have a quick start tomorrow morning. They take on Concordia-Moorhead at 10 a.m. and finish up the tournament against the University of Chicago at 2 p.m.
