Four Blugolds Receive All-WIAC Volleyball Recognition

MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) - On Thursday, the 2016 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Volleyball Team was announced, and four Blugolds received recognition for their efforts this season.

Heather Sawchuk (Jr.-Roseville, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) and Katrina Raskie (Sr.-Weston, WI/D.C. Everest) were named All-WIAC as the two outside hitters made significant contributions to the UW-Eau Claire offense. Sawchuk topped the conference in a number of categories, including her 481 kills and 4.08 kills per set. Along with 28 service aces and 50 blocks, her 535.5 total points were also the best in the WIAC. Raskie received All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season as her .229 hitting percentage, 276 kills, and 2.34 kills per set all ranked within the top-20 in the WIAC.

Talia Jaskulske (Jr.-Maplewood, MN/North St. Paul) split her time this season between libero and defensive specialist duties, and she was selected to the All-Defensive Team for a second consecutive year. Her 452 digs were good for fourth overall in the conference, while her 3.80 digs per set ranked sixth. Middle blocker Keagan Kinsella (Sr.-Chanhassen, MN) was named to the conference's All-Sportsmanship Team. A threat offensively, Kinsella accounted for 132 kills and a .216 hitting percentage which ranked in the top-20 for the conference.

The Blugolds finished the regular season with a record of 23-9 and 4-3 in the WIAC, good for fourth in the conference.
