Volleyball's Season Ends in NCAA Second Round

WHITEWATER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's volleyball saw their season come to an end Friday night, falling to Bethel 3-1 in the second round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.

The Blugolds came out strong, winning a tight first set 25-23, but would fall by the same score in the second.

Set three started just as the previous two, with a kill by Katrina Raskie (Jr.-Weston, Wis/D.C. Everest) knotting the score at 10. However, the Royals would then go on a 10-2 run to take command of rest of the set, closing out a 25-18 win.

The Royals picked up where they left off in set four, jumping to an early 4-1 lead but the Blugolds would fight their way back to a tie at 14. However, Bethel would respond with a 5-0 and never look back, claiming 25-20 win.

Raskie and Kelly Riesgraf (Sr.-Chaska, MN/Chaska) led the Blugolds with 13 kills a piece with Keagan Kinsella (Jr.-Chanhassen, MN/Chanhassen) chipping in eight.

Talia Jaskulske (So.-Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) recorded 18 digs while Jenna Smits (Sr.-Green Bay, WI/Preble) tallied 16 along with 40 assists.

The Blugolds wrap up the 2015 season with a 27-10 overall record, 4-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
