WHEATON, Ill. (Blugolds.com) - After day two of their tournament at Wheaton College, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's volleyball team (15-6, 1-1 WIAC) came out undefeated.

Their first game of the day was against tournament host Wheaton College, ending with a four set victory (23-25, 26-24, 28-26, 25-22). After going down 2-8 to start the match, the Blugolds dropped set one despite late heroics behind the serving of Kasey Schumacher (So.-Minooka, IL). Eau Claire avoided early deficit in all of the remaining sets, and were able to pull out a key third set victory thanks to a pivotal kill from Hannah Theisen (Sr.-Rochester, MN/Mayo). The Blugolds would go on to take set four and win the match.

Eau Claire's fourth and final match of the tournament against St. Mary's University (Ind.) was a significantly more lop-sided affair (25-14, 25-15, 25-23). Coach Kim Wudi had the Blugolds primed from the beginning of the match, stringing together a 10-1 run early in the first set. The momentum continued to roll in Eau Claire's favor as they completed the sweep over the Cardinals.

Following a strong showing, outside hitter Hannah Theisen led the Blugolds with 12 kills on the game. Their usual offensive hero, Katrina Raskie (Jr. –Weston, WI/D.C. Everest) finished with 20 digs, tying her season-high originally set earlier this month in a loss to Augsburg College.

After their undefeated finish at Wheaton, the Blugolds finish their undefeated week with five wins. At an impressive 15-6, they have now won eight of their last 11 games.

Next week UWEC looks to better their conference record at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
