MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire volleyball player Jamie Dimka (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week on defense, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Leading the Blugolds with 88 digs in three matches, Dimka helped guide the team to a 3-1 record during the weekend, hosting the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament. In the final match of the weekend against St. Norbert College (Wis.), she had a career-high 36 digs, which also tied for sixth most in school history and the most since Lauren Sutherland finished with 38 against UW-Platteville on Oct. 29, 2011. Dimka also had two service aces and five set assists.
It's the second time this season that Dimka was named a WIAC Athlete of the Week. She was previously selected on Sept. 9.
