Blugolds compete at UW-Platteville Invite

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire outdoor track and field teams competed at the UW-Platteville Invite on Thursday with several Blugolds turning in strong performances to start their outdoor seasons.

On the women's side, Bailey Waldhauser (Fr. – Loyal, WI) won the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters while Katie George (Jr. – St. Paul, MN/Visitation) won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:48.32.

Sarah Glidden (Sr. – Greenville, WI/Hortonville) won the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.68 while Ashleigh Buergi (Sr. – Green Bay, WI/Bay Port)  was third (1:03.31) and Amber Harris (Sr. – Coon Rapids, MN) was fourth (1:06.80). 

In the discus, Erica Oawster (Jr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) was second (44.76) and was third in the shot put (13.17). JoHannah Theisen (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Regis) also was fourth in the shot put (12.97).

Megan Wallace (Fr. – Burlington, WI) and Ashley Agrimson (Fr. – Peterson, MN/Rushford-Peterson) took third (5.32) and fourth (5.30) in the long jump while Hanna Reed (Jr. – Fort Atkinson, WI) and Emma Drangstveit (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/North) were second (2:19.86) and third (2:21.36) in the 800m.

In the triple jump, Mariah Wendland (So. – Richfield, MN) was third (10.65) while Taylor Lather (Sr. – Stillwater, MN/St. Croix Prep) was third in the 1500m run with a time of 4:59.76.

Tommie Brenner (Jr. – Reedsburg, WI) took second in the 100m hurdles (16.06) was fourth in the pole vault (3.36) while the 4x400 relay team of Heidi Wilken (Fr. – DePere, WI), Maddie Lebouton (Fr. – Horicon, WI), Paige Reynolds (Jr. – White Bear Lake, MN) and MaKayla Mielke (Fr. – Freedom, WI) was third with a time of 4:22.09.

For the men, David Kornack (Sr. – Edgar, WI) won the shot put (18.14) was second in the discus (46.93) while Dietrich Schwoerer (So. – McFarland, WI) was second in the 400m with a time of 48.32.

Alex Winn (So. – Kingston, WA) was third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:55.06 and the 4x400 relay team of Hunter Henk (So. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls), Kyle Groven (So. – Pine Island, MN), Drake Kapler (Fr. – Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) and Schwoerer were fourth with a time of 3:21.08.
