Track & Field headed for NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS (Blugolds.com) - The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced the participants in the 2016 Outdoor Track and Field Championships with eleven Blugolds earning a spot in the meet.

Jimmy Paske (Jr.-Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) will compete in three events for the Blugolds, the 200-meter dash (seeded 11th), 400-meter dash (seeded 3rd) and the 4 x 400 relay team with Will LaJeunesse (Sr.-Belle Plaine, MN), Brandon Christnovich (Fr.-Holmen, WI) and Kevin Brooks (Sr.-Roseville, MN). The relay team enters the meet with the fastest time in the nation.

Alex Mess (Sr.-Lake Mills, WI/Green Bay Notre Dame) will compete in both the shot put (3rd seed) and discus (13th seed).

Joshua Thorson (Sr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) will compete in the 5K, ranking number one in the event. Thorson will be joined by Darin Lau (So.-Eau Claire, WI/Immanuel) (seeded 18th) and Nicholas Petersson (Sr.-Brookfield, WI/Central) (seeded 20th). Lau will also compete in the 10K were he is the 5th seeded runner.

On the women's side, Sam Anderson (Jr.-Forest Lake, MN) will represent the Blugolds in both the discus (10th seed) and the hammer throw (16th seed).

Kelsey Woracheck (So.-Appleton, WI/Xavier) will compete in the 100-meter dash as the 22nd seed while Tommie Brenner (Fr.-Reedsburg, WI) is the 5th seed in the pole vault.

Stephanie Frempong-Longdon (Sr.-Minnetrista, MN/Waconia) will compete in the triple jump (6th seed).

For each men's individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.

The championships will be held May 26-28 at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
