Fehler, Relays Advance to Finals at NCAA Outdoor Championships

CANTON, NY (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's track sprinter Carly Fehler (Sr.-Oak Creek, WI) along with the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400-meter relays advanced to the finals of their respective events at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University at the Merrick-Pinkard Track and Field Complex.

Fehler advanced to the finals of the 200-meter dash posting the fastest preliminary time of 24.24 seconds defeating her next closest competitor by .15 seconds.  She will be the top seed in the 200-meter dash finals on Saturday.

Fehler joined teammates Kelsey Worachek (Fr.-Appleton, WI/Xavier), Brooke Patterson (Sr.-Sussex, WI/Sussex-Hamilton) and Lindsey Laufenberg (Sr.-Waunakee, WI) to set a new facility record in the 4 x 100-meter relay of 46.46 seconds.  The previous record was 46.55 seconds set by Carthage on May 24, 2003.

The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Jessie Reineck (Jr.-Greenville, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran), Sarah Glidden (So.-Greenville, WI/Hortonville), Patterson and Jessica Rupnow (Jr.-Sussex, WI/Hamilton) advanced to Saturday's finals finishing in sixth place at the conclusion of today's preliminaries with a time of 3:48.67.

Glidden also competed in the heptathlon were she currently sits in eighth place with 2,883 points and is just 136 points out of first place with three events remaining.  Glidden finished second in the high jump clearing 5-5 (1.65 meters), ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.98 seconds and 22nd in the shot put with a top throw of 26-5.5 (8.06 meters).

Marina Eggen (Jr.-Greenville, WI/Hortonville) also competed in the hepthathlon completing the first day of competition in 19th place with a total of 2,602 points.  Eggen finished 13th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.30 seconds, 18th in the shot put with a heave of 30-5 (9.27 meters) and 21st in the high jump clearing 4-7.5 (1.41 meters).

Sam Anderson (Jr.-Forest Lake, MN) finished 16th in the discus matching her best throw of the season of 142-9 (43.51 meters).

Competition will continue for the Blugolds tomorrow on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  Glidden and Eggen will complete the heptathlon while Fehler and Worachek look to advance to the finals of the 100-meter dash.
