LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Competing at the Ashton May Invitational at UW-La Crosse, the UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track & field team finished in third place out of eight teams today.
The Blugolds recorded 103 points while UW-La Crosse won with 329 and Winona State University (Minn.) took second with 104.
Eau Claire came away with two first place finishes. The Blugolds also had five other top-three finishes.
The Blugolds' 4x400-meter relay team of Jessie Reineck (So.-Greenville, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran), Kelsey Weigel (Sr.-Marshfield, Wis.), Calla Karl (Jr.-Frederic, Wis.) and Taylor Wirth (So.-Appleton, Wis./North) won with a time of 4:04.27.
Kara Metzger (So.-Waukesha, Wis./South) also tied for first in the pole vault with a height of 3.20 meters (10-6).
Next Saturday, the Blugolds will be at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
