Wallace, Agrimson lead Blugolds on opening day of NCAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. (Blugolds.com) – After day one of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, the Blugold women are tied for fourth place.

The Blugold women earned 10 points on the day and are tied with Brandeis, Linfield, George Fox, Chicago and Wesleyan. Earning points for Eau Claire were Megan Wallace (So. – Burlington, WI) and Ashley Agrimson (So. – Peterson, MN/Rushford-Peterson).

Wallace took third place in the pentathlon with 3,549 points. The sophomore won the high jump (1.62m, 5-3.75) and shot put (11.56m, 37-11.25) and finished third in long jump (5.40m, 17-8.75), ninth in the 800m (2:28.81) and 12th in the 60m hurdles (9.47).

In the long jump, Agrimson took fifth place with a leap of 5.74m (18-10) after entering the meet seeded 12th.

In addition, Tommie Brenner (Sr. – Reedsburg, WI) – seeded 16th - finished tied for 10th in the 60m hurdles (8.90) while Brianne Johnsrud (Sr. – Dodgeville, WI) was 11th in the weight throw with a toss of 16.68m (54-8.75).

Seeded 20th in the 400m, Lizzy Keena (So. - Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln) was 17th with a time of 58.57 and the distance medley relay team of Emma Drangstveit (So. – Lakeville, MN/North), Lizzy Keena (So. - Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln), Hanna Reed (Sr. – Fort Atkinson, WI), Morgan Marek (Sr. – Muskego, WI) took 10th with a time of 11:58.68.

For the Blugold men, Patrick Treacy earned a spot in Saturday's final in the mile run, clocking in at 4:09.49 in the prelims. Also punching their ticket to Saturday was the 4x400 relay team of Hunter Henk (Jr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls), Arik Skifstad (Fr. - Eau Claire, WI/North), Brandon Christnovich (Sr. – Holmen, WI), KJ Munn (Jr. – Bayport, MN/St. Croix Prep Academy), finishing with a time of 3:17.62.

Munn also competing in the 400m where he placed 15th with a time of 49.79.
