Oawster earns National Athlete of the Week honors

NEW ORLEANS (Blugolds.com) – Erica Oawster (Sr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's track and field team has been named NCAA Division III National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

USTFCCCA release

The senior won the shot put on Saturday at the UWEC Triangular with a toss of 15.11m (49-7), winning the event by more than six feet. The heave is also the top throw in the nation by nearly nine inches.

This is the first National Athlete of the Week honor for Oawster and just the second time a Blugold has won the honor for the indoor season – the other being thrower Alex Mess in 2016.

Oawster and the Blugolds will be back in action this weekend at UW-Stout's Warren Bowlus Open/Multi.
