Track & Field competes at UWSP/Wartburg Qualifiers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams completed in the UW-Stevens Point and Wartburg Qualifiers this weekend, with several Blugolds turning in strong performances.

At the Stevens Point Qualifier, Kelsey Worachek (Sr. – Appleton, WI/Xavier) finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77 and was sixth in the 200-meter with a time of 26.22.

Ashleigh Buergi (Sr. – Green Bay, WI/Bay Port) was fourth in the 400-meter with a time of 58.31 while Mel Becker (Sr. – Osseo, WI/homeschool) was third in the mile (5:00.25) and Lizzy Cisewski (Fr. – Stevens Point, WI/Pacelli) was fourth (5:14.19).

Bailey Waldhauser (Fr. – Loyal, WI) was fourth in the high jump (5-02.25) while Mic Hack (Jr. – Fort Atkinson, WI) and Tommie Brenner (Jr. – Reedsburg, WI) tied for second in the pole vault (11-03.75).

In the shot put, Kassandra Lueck (So. – Nowthen, MN/Anoka) was third with a toss of 41-07.75)

For the Blugold men, TJ Lui (So. – Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine) won the triple jump with a leap of 45-06.25 while Jordan Lacey (Fr. – Greenville, WI/St. Mary Central) was fourth (41-07.00). Also earning top honors was David Kornack (Sr. – Edgar, WI) who won the shot put with a throw of 58-01.25.

 Dietrich Schwoerer (So. – McFarland, WI) placed fifth in the 400-meter (50.18) while Alex Winn (So. – Kingston, WA) was sixth in the 800 with a time of 1:59.02.

Connor Dolan (Fr. -  Nekoosa, WI/Assumption) was fourth in the mile with a time of 4:20.40 and Adam Lembke (Fr. – Waukesha, WI/West) was fourth in the long jump (22-03.75).

At the Wartburg Qualifier, the distance medley relay team of Brendon Paucek (Sr. - Sullivan, WI/Jefferson), Brandon Christnovich (Jr. – Holmen, WI), Dylan Lueck (So. – Germantown, WI/Wisconsin Lutheran) and Patrick Treacy (Jr. – Fall Creek, WI/Eau Claire Memorial) took first place with a time of 9:59.53.

The Blugolds will now wait until Monday to find out the final selections for the NCAA national championship meet, which will be head in Birmingham, Alabama March 9-10.
