Women's Tennis Blanks River Falls in Home Finale

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Playing in its final home match of the 2013-14 season, the UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team defeated UW-River Falls 9-0 today.

Results

The Blugolds combined to lose just nine games in singles play while losing just six in doubles.

Colleen McCullough (So.-Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) and Nicole Pothen (Jr.-Centerville, Minn./Centennial) didn't drop any games in singles play as both won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.

In doubles, Pothen and Paige Kuepers (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) won by the largest margin, taking the No. 3 spot 8-1.

Next Saturday the Blugolds will be at the four-team WIAC Automatic Qualifier Tournament at UW-Whitewater. They will open the day against UW-La Crosse at noon and then play the winner or loser of the other semifinal match that will include UW-Whitewater and UW-Oshkosh. The winner of the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship.
