Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team hosted Winona State and UW-La Crosse Friday and Saturday at the YMCA Menard's Tennis Center.  The Blugolds fell to Winona State 7-2 in a hard fought match, and went on to defeat UW- La Crosse 7-2 the next day.

Natalie Wijesinghe (Sr.—Apple Valley, MN/Apple Valley) went undefeated in singles on the weekend, recording the only singles win against the D2 Winona State Warriors on Friday, defeating B. Murman (WSU) 6-4, 6-3. Wijesinghe defeated her opponent on Saturday as well K. Steinert (UWL) 6-3, 6-2.

After falling to a tough Winona State the Blugolds rallied the next day to overcome UW-La Crosse 7-2.  The Blugolds won all but one singles match, and same for doubles.  Brooks/Barnd (UWEC) and Rusk/Girard (UWEC) both defeating their UWL doubles opponents 8-1.

The Blugolds are back in action next weekend as they travel to UW- Stevens Point and to UW- Oshkosh.
