Women's Tennis Keeps Rolling With 9-0 Win Over Luther

Winona, Minn. (Blugolds.com) The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team won its seventh straight dual with a 9-0 win over Luther College Friday night in Winona.

Doubles started with a win at No. 1, as  Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Sarah Henderson (Prior Lake, Minn.) rocked Jackie Cychosz (LUTH) and Anna Pearson (LUTH), 8-3.  Molly Stewart (Amery, Wis.) and  Emily Cooper  (Whitebear, Minn.) made quick work of Britta Pressler (LUTH) and Ellie Hemker (LUTH) at No. 2, with an 8-3 win, and Hannah Zevenbergen (Baldwin, Wis.) and Kendra Berry (Duluth, Minn.) matched that at No. 3, with a 9-7 triumph over Kelsey Krusel (LUTH) and Alli Harter (LUTH).

Singles were no different as Wijesinghe bested Cychosz(LUTH) and Henderson swept Pearson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and 2 respectively. Stewart defeated Pressler at No. 3, 6-3,6-0, while Berry kept the Blugolds rolling with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kruse (LUTH). Cooper and Zevenbergen  took care of business at No. 5 and 6 respectively, with Cooper taking down Almquist (LUTH) 6-1, 6-2 and Zevenbergen downing Hemker, 6-1, 6-4 to wrap up the Blugolds victory.

The Blugold women are now ranked 15th in the regional rankings and will host North Central (MINN) at 11:00am in the McPhee Center at UW-Eau Claire on April 7.
