Women's Tennis Stays Undefeated in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire women's tennis team defeated Concordia (TX) 8-1 on March 21st. The Blugolds improve to 12-1 on the year and stay undefeated on their spring break trip to Texas.

Results

The Blugolds continued their win streak in Texas and got out to another early 3-0 lead after doubles play. Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, Minn.) with double partner Sarah Henderson (Prior Lake, Minn.) earned another victory at number one doubles. At number two doubles duo Molly Stewart (Amery, Wis.) and Emily Cooper  (Whitebear, Minn.) defeated Anderson/Fox (CC) 8-2, while  Kendra Berry (Duluth, Minn.) and Hannah Zevenbergen (Baldwin, Wis.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 victory. 

In singles action Wijesinghe was forced into a tie breaker in the first set but won her second set 6-0. Henderson made quick work of Martinez (CC) 6-1, 6-2 in the second singles position, while Stewart came out victorious over Anderson (CC) in the third position. Berry and Zevenbergen both picked up convincing wins at the four and six positions, respectively. 

The Blugolds, now 4-0 in Texas, will wrap up their trip, facing Sul Ross St. and Schreiner in Kerrville, TX tomorrow.
