Longview, TX (Blugolds.com)- The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team bounced back after a defeat yesterday to sweep LeTourneau University 9-0.
In doubles play, Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, Minn.) and partner Olivia Gallagher (Lodi, Wis.) won 8-4 at the number one doubles slot. At number two doubles, Molly Stewart (Amery, Wis.) and Molly Sanvik (Winona, Minn.) defeated Hunter/Rockwell (LU) 8-1. Brooke Volpone (Monticello, Minn.) with partner Hannah Zevenbergen (Baldwin, Wis. / Baldwin-Woodville) finished the doubles sweep with a dominating 8-0 win at number three doubles.
In singles action Wijesinghe defeated Hunter (LU) at the number on spot, winning 6-3, 6-3. Stewart got a victory at the number two spot with scores of 6-0, 6-2, while Gallagher won at the three spot. Volpone made quick work of Rockwell (LU) at number four singles, winning 6-1, 6-2. Sanvik and Kendra Berry (Duluth, Minn/East) completed the sweep with wins at the number five and six spots, respectively.
The Blugolds are half way through their spring break matches and will compete tomorrow against Centenary College at 10:00am and tomorrow afternoon against East Texas Baptist.
