Women's Tennis Earns 5-4 win over Concordia

Austin, TX (Blugolds.com)-  The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team took to the road traveling to Texas for matches over spring break. The Blugolds opened up the week with a 5-4 win over Concordia University (TX). 

Results:

The Blugold women have not competed in a dual match since October and opened up their spring season with a gritty win. The team earned 4 wins in singles action giving them the 5-4 edge over Concordia despite dropping 2 of 3 double matches.  Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, Minn.) picked up a convincing win at No. 1 singles defeating Aarhues (CU) 6-1, 6-1.  Molly Stewart (Amery, Wis.) won at the number two slot with scores of 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. Brooke Volpone (Monticello, Minn.) and Molly Sanvik (Winona, Minn.) both earned victorys at the number four and five singles spots, respectively. 

In doubles action the pair of Stewart and Sanvick were the only Blugolds to earn a win playing the No. 2 doubles slot. The two defeated Anderson/Mata (CU) 8-4.

The Blugolds return to action tomorrow at 4pm facing Southwestern University at the Marvin D. Henderson Sr. Tennis Courts in Georgetown, TX.
