Waverly, IA (Blugolds.com)-The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's tennis team defeated Wartburg 9-0 on Saturday morning.
The number one doubles the team of Sarah Henderson (Jr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) and Natalie Wijesinghe got the Blugolds rolling with an 8-0 win over number one doubles for Wartburg. Molly Stewart (So. Amery, WI ) and Olivia Gallagher (Sr.-Lodi,Wis.) followed with a dominating 8-1 win at two doubles and Hannah Zevenbergen and Molly Sanvik (So.-Winona, Minn.) recorded a 8-3 victory.
In singles play, Henderson won over Alex Peterson in number one singles, winning 6-3, 6-2. At number two singles Wijesinghe defeated Lauren O'Brien 6-1, 6-1.
Gallagher won 6-3, 6-1 at number three singles while Bailey Budnik and Stewart won their matches at number four and five singles respectively. Kendra Berry (So. Duluth, Minn./ East) finished the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Annika Krieg at number six singles.
The Blugolds will compete next weekend facing UW-Stout and Saint Bennedict.
