WHITEWATER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team opened the 2016-17 season at UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks defeated the Blugolds 9-0. 

In singles action Sarah Henderson (Prior Lake, MN) and Olivia Gallagher (Lodi, WI) both fell by scores of 6-0,6-1. Natalie Wijesinghe  lost 6-1, 7-5 while Bailey Budnik  and Molly Stewart (Amery, WI) were defeated 6-2, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-3 respectively. Kendra Berry  (Duluth, MN/East) was defeated 6-3, 6-1.

The doubles team of Henderson and Wijesinghe fell 8-1, while Gallagher and Stewart were defeated 8-2. Budnik and Brooke Volpone (Monticello, MN) were also defeated 8-1.

The Blugolds are back in action tomorrow at the Warhawk Invitational, play is set to begin at 9:00am.
