BROWN DEER, Wisc. (blugolds.com) - Day two of the 2017 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Swimming & Diving Championships (presented by Culver's) took place Friday, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's team remains in second place.

Friday's Results

Four first place finishes assisted in the UW-Eau Claire team's performance on Friday.

To follow up Thursday's wins in the 200 yard freestyle and 400 yard medley relays, the team of Samantha Senczyszyn (So.-Grafton, WI), Brittany Farr (So.-Madison, WI/James Madison Memorial), Sara Hagen (Fr.-Mc Farland, WI), and Jessica Short (So.-Grafton, WI) earned top honors in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.84. This set a school and conference record and was faster than last year's NCAA invite time.

Senczyszyn was victorious in the 400 yard individual medley, breaking the WIAC meet record by three seconds with her time of 4:23.71. It also broke the school record and was faster than last season's NCAA invite time.

Short won the 100 yard backstroke (56.93), while Hagen's time of 1:05.10 topped the 100 yard breastroke. Both of these were good for an NCAA B cut.

Finally, the team of Anna Theisen (Fr.-Glenbeulah, WI/Plymouth), Sari Mailey (Jr.-Minnestrista, MN/Mound Westonka), Nicole Bellford (So.-Milwaukee, Wi/New Berlin Eisenhower), and Sara Tainter (Sr.-Plover, SPASH) finished third in the standings in the 800 yard freestyle relay.

The final day of the competition will resume from Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Saturday morning with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m.
