Senczyszyn sets pool record at UWSP Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team came back strong after their winter break as they competed in day one of the UW-Stevens Point Invite.

The Blugolds are in second place with 491 points, trailing Division II Minnesota State-Mankato.

Samantha Senczyszyn took first in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking in with a time of 2:21.33 which set a new pool record at Stevens Point.

Elissa Hermsen and Nina Tabatabai went one-two in the 200-yard butterfly, turning in times of 2:16.44 and 2:20.06, respectively.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Senczyszyn, Sara Hagen, Jessica Short and Carli Olson finished second with a time of 1:40.26. They teamed up again in the 400-yard medley relay where they again took second (3:59.03).

Short also took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.80 and was third in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:12.08.

Sari Mailey was second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.75 while Breanna Kimmes was third at 5:36.30. Amanda Wiedorff was third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.74.

The Blugolds will compete Saturday in the final day of the invite.
