Senczyszyn Breaks 2 School Records as Women's Swim & Dive Edges Dragons

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's swim and dive team added another victory on Saturday, narrowly beating Minnesota State Moorhead 148-140.

Results

The Dragons drew first blood, placing first in the first 4 events, the 200-yard medley, 1000-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, and 100-yard backstroke.

 The first Blugold swimmer to top the podium was Samantha Senczyszyn, winning the 100-yard breast stroke, achieving a NCAA B cut and setting a new school record with a time of 1:05.39. Senczyszyn earlier earned a second place finish in the 200-yard medley with teammates Madeline Gray, Rachel Treadway, and Allison Hable.

Hanna Sisto and Elissa Hermsen went 1-2 in the next event, the 200-yard butterfly, with times of 2:16.85 and 2:19.26 respectively.

Allison Hable edged a narrow victory in the 50 yard freestyle, winning with a time of 25.19.

Samantha Senczyszyn continued to find success, placing first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.3, and setting another school record, this time in the 200-yard breaststroke, recording a time of 2:23.17.

Rachel Treadway dominated the 500-yard freestyle, finishing at 5:30.63, nearly 8 seconds faster than the next swimmer.

The meet came down to the 200-yard freestyle relay, and the team of Allison Hable, Madeline Gray, Dana Rossebo, and Ellie Hostetler took first, with a time of 1:40.84. Ellie Hostetler had the swim of the meet by anchoring the 200-yard freestyle relay with a season best split.

In diving, Kate French continued to dominate the field, achieving NCAA zone cut while winning the 1 meter dive with a score of 464.80., and the 3 meter dive with a score of 483.05.

The Blugolds hit the road next Saturday, November 21st to take on the Oshkosh Titans at 1:00 PM.
