Axness Achieves All-America Honors in the One-Meter Dive

SHENANDOAH, Texas (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire diver Sara Axness (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) received All-America status for the second consecutive year earning a fifth-place finish in the one-meter diving event at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.

Day Three Results | Team Scores

The Blugolds have earned more points than any other WIAC school heading into the final day of competition with 40 points, good for 17th place overall out of 45 teams that have scored points.  Emory (GA) is the overall leader with a grand total of 456.50 points through three days of competition.

Axness received a preliminary score of 402.55 to earn a spot in the finals of the one-meter dive.  In the finals Axness earned a score of 434.60 finishing fifth to receive All-America honors for the second consecutive year in the one-meter dive.  Last year Axness finished fourth receiving All-America status for the first time in her career.

Amanda Baker (Jr.-Hudson, WI) also qualified for Nationals in the one-meter dive but did not qualify for the finals after receiving a preliminary score of 360.15.

Competition will conclude tomorrow with Allie Hable (Jr.-Ankeny, IA) attempting to become a two-time All-American as she competes in the 100-meter Freestyle.  Earlier this week Hable earned All-America honors in the 50-meter Freestyle.
