Men's Swimming Competes at UWSP Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving teams traveled to Stevens Point for the UW-Stevens Point Invite and UW-Stevens Point Diving Invitational.

 Results

The team did not fare as well as they had hoped, but did have several members finish well. 

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Ben Fisher (So. Roselle, Ill.), Noah Gannon (Jr. Plymouth, Minn.), Jeff Schweitzer (Jr. Cedarburg, Wis.), Logan Coert (Fr. Cedarburg, Wis.) finished third with a time of 1:29.36.

Their other relays also fared well.

Thomas Hensen (So. Delafield, Wis.), Dayton Miller (Fr. Rochester, Minn.), Jake McDade (Sr. Monona, Wis.), and Coert finished second in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:27.39.

Ryan Young (So. Lakeview, Minn.), Gannon, Fisher and Hensen finished at 3:48.58, good for third in the 400-yard medley relay.

Evan Koch (Sr. Oak Creek, Wis.), Jack Kelly (Fr. Medina, Minn.), Fisher and Coert finished third in the 200-yard medley relay. 

The team of Fisher, Coert, Schweitzer, and McDade finished third in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:20.33.

In the 500-yard freestyle, McDade finished second (4:59.40) and was third in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:31.48) and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.37). 

The Blugolds swept the 200-yard breaststroke, with Kyle Kackman (Jr. Otsego, Minn.) finishing first at 2:19.09, Sam Doocy (Sr. Georgetown, Texas) finished second at 2:22.32, and Gannon finished third 2:22.67. 

Young finished second in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:01.61, with Koch following in third at 2:08.76.

Miller finished second in the 400-yard individual medley at 4:25.92, Hensen finished second in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:02.01, and Fisher came in third in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.26.

Two Blugolds topped the 100-yard breastroke results, with Fisher finishing first at 1:02.24, and Cole Larson (Fr. Hales Corners, Wis.) finished third at 1:03.48.

Shawn Westphal represented the Blugolds in diving, finishing second in the one-meter drive with a score of 338.10, and finished second in the three-meter dive with a score of 338.85.

The Blugolds will be home on Saturday, Jan. 31 against Whitewater.
