Two Blugolds Named WIAC Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's swimmer Lisa Reed (Jr.-Duluth, Minn./East) and women's hockey goalie Kim Van Brunt (So.-Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.

Competing in three events against UW-La Crosse on Nov. 9, Reed took the top spot in one of them.  She claimed a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:21.08.  She also took third in the 500-yard freestyle and was eighth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Playing two games in-goal against St. Catherine University (Minn.), one on the road and one at home, the Blugolds finished with a win and a loss. Van Brunt recorded a shutout on Nov. 8, as she stopped 17 shots, and the Blugolds won 3-0.  On Nov. 9, she gave up two goals while making 17 saves as the Blugolds came up just short, 2-1.  On the season, Van Brunt has a 1.01 goals-against-average and a .944 save percentage, playing 119:16.
