Women's Swimming & Diving Finishes Second at Pointer Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming & diving team finished in second place at the two-day UW-Stevens Point Invitational.

UW-La Crosse won the event with 1,150.5 points while the Blugolds came in with 783, edging UW-Stevens Point, which had 765.5. MSU-Mankato was fourth with 594 and UW-Oshkosh was fifth with 272.

The Blugolds came away with three first-place finishes and had a number of other strong finishes.

Nicole Dorvinen (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) claimed two victories on the weekend. She was first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:10.57 while also taking first in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:41.64, almost six seconds in front of the rest of the field.

In the 1,650-yard freestyle, Karen Boosalis (Sr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) won with a time of 18:30.96 as the Blugolds swept the top five spots.

Next Saturday, the Blugolds will be at home hosting UW-Whitewater in the final meet before the WIAC Championship. Action against UW-Whitewater will get underway at 1 p.m.
