WHITEWATER, Wis. (blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team won their third straight match Wednesday night, taking down UW-Whitewater, 2-1.

Box Score

Things were quiet for a big chunk of the first half until Lauren Talbot (So.-Anoka, MN) dribbled her way into the front of the net and snuck the ball through multiple defenders to put Eau Claire on the board. It was Talbot's second goal of the season, her first coming earlier in October against UW-River Falls.

Neither team was able to add to the scoring the rest of the half, with the Blugolds tallying five shots during the half.

The beginning of the second half was eventful, with the Blugolds adding to their score with a goal from Hannah Schaetzel (Jr.-Germantown, WI) in the 52nd minute. Even though the Warhawks would add some pressure with a goal in the 66th minute, Eau Claire would find a way to finish off the match with the win. In total, they would outshoot Whitewater 12-7.

In goal, Anna Sveiven (Jr.-Blaine, MN/Centennial) continues to be very strong for the Blugolds. She had three saves on the night, keeping her second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with 99 in total. Sveiven is also second in the conference in goals against average, with a 0.75 average.

Now 13-5 overall and 4-2 in the WIAC, Eau Claire will play their final regular season game this Saturday at home against UW-Stout at 1 PM. It will be a superb opportunity to build momentum prior to WIAC postseason play.
