Women's Soccer records eighth shutout of the season with 2-0 win over Falcons

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team won their third straight match Wednesday afternoon, defeating UW-River Falls 2-0.

The first half of action was quiet, with neither team able to get on the scoreboard, despite the Blugolds tallying 12 shots during the half. Eau Claire would finish the afternoon with 23 shots in total.

Emma Stange (So.- Andover, MN/Anoka) opened up scoring just minutes into the second half, recording her second goal of the 2019 season. Just minutes later, Lauren Talbot (So.-Anoka, MN) snuck one into the net, putting the Blugolds up 2-0 with forty minutes left to play. Stange was credited with the assist, also her second of the fall.

The 2-0 victory was Eau Claire's eighth shutout of the season. Goalkeeper Anna Sveiven (Jr.-Blaine, MN/Centennial) has started seven of those eight, including this one.

The Blugolds improve to 10-4 on the season with the win, and now 2-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. This match concluded a three-game home stand for Eau Claire, who will now go on the road to square off against conference foe UW-Oshkosh this Saturday, October 19th. Things will kick off later in the day, at 7 PM.
