EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team tallied a big win on Sunday, defeating Ripon College by a score of 6-1.
UW-Eau Claire outshot the Red Hawks 16-6 on the day as six different Blugolds scored a goal.
Kiki Kussow (Fr. – Green Bay, WI/Notre Dame) scored the first goal at 17:24 and Brooke Hunwardsen (So. – Fairmont, MN) added another a minute later. Tessa Grywalsky (Jr. – Madison, WI/Middleton) scored the last goal of the first half to give the home squad a 3-0 advantage at the break.
Anna Larson (Sr. – Lakeville, MN/North) made it a four-goal lead at 51:09 but Ripon would tally a goal of their own in the 72nd minute. Anna Kautzman (Jr.-Champlin, MN) had an answer though six minutes later and Krista Koenig (So. – Ringle/D.C. Everest) would net a late goal to seal the Blugolds' ninth win of the season.
Anna Sveiven (Jr.-Blaine, MN/Centennial) earned the win in goal, saving all three shots that came her way in the first half.
Eau Claire (9-4, 1-1 WIAC) will be at home again on Wednesday as they host UW-River Falls (8-5-1, 1-1-1 WIAC) at 3:30 p.m. in conference action.
