Soccer falls to Dubuque, 1-0

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire soccer team was unable to find their offense in a close 1-0 loss to Dubuque Saturday afternoon.

Dubuque was able to score early in the match, with a strike in the 14th minute to take the decisive 1-0 lead. The Blugold offense still managed to get opportunities on net, with three shots on target over the course of the match. Kayla Jedrzejewski (So.-New Berlin, WI/Eisenhower) managed two shots on goal but was unable to get it past the defense. Ava Quick (Fr.-Lakeville, MN/South) also managed a shot on goal in the 88th minute.

The Blugold defense had a great performance despite the loss. Anna Sveiven (Jr.-Blaine, MN/Centennial) allowed just the single goal, with two other saves on top of it. Despite the performance, Sveiven dropped to 4-3-0 on the season.

The loss dropped Eau Claire to 4-3 on the season overall. They will return to Bollinger Field on Sunday to square off with Central (Iowa). It will be one of three more matches before they enter Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play.
