Soccer falls to Wartburg, 3-2

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team hosted Wartburg College on Friday afternoon, falling to the Knights, 3-2.

The Knights got on the board early, scoring in the opening minutes of the game. But Krista Koenig (So. – Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) had an answer, scoring at the 7:38 mark off an assist by Emma Stange (So. – Andover, MN/Anoka). The score would remained locked at one heading into the half.

Wartburg tallied two unassisted goals in the second half to take a 3-1 lead. Emily Sullivan (Sr.- Medina, MN/Wayzata) would find the back of the net off a Tessa Grywalsky (Jr. - Madison, WI/Middleton) assist at the 87:36 mark but the Blugolds would run out of time to complete the comeback.

Anna Sveiven (Jr. – Blaine, MN/Centennial) took the loss in net, recording four saves. Eau Claire held a 13-12 edge in shots on the day and a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
