Soccer falls in WIAC title game, 3-1

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team played in their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) tournament championship (presented by Culver's) on Saturday night, falling to the top-seeded UW-La Crosse Eagles, 3-1.

The Eagles scored two goals early in the first half, but Emily Sullivan (Jr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata) would find the back of the net at the 35:56 mark to cut into the La Crosse lead. Mercedes Wilson (So. – Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine) would earn the assist on Sullivan's 11th goal of the season.

In the second half, the Eagles tallied another goal while the Blugolds could only manage two shots in the second half as La Crosse claimed their second-straight WIAC title.

La Crosse out-shot Eau Claire 17-3 and held a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks. Sammy Lefaive (Sr. – Coon Rapids, MN) took the loss in goal while recording five saves and fell to 9-7-2 on the season.

The Blugold wrap up the season at 9-8-2 overall and 5-2-1 in WIAC play.
