Both squads played 110 minutes but neither team could score, forcing the shootout to see who would advance to Saturday's title game.

Sammy Lefaive (Sr. – Coon Rapids, MN) tallied three saves in the first half, two in the second and one in the first overtime to keep the Pointers off the board.

In the first of the eight shootout rounds, Brooke Hunwardsen (Fr. – Fairmont, MN) hit the post but Krista Koenig (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest), Jordyn Schoen (Jr. – Oswego, IL) and Emily Sullivan (Jr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata) would score in the next three.  Stevens Point fought back to keep the game going by converting in the first, second and fifth rounds. After each team missed the sixth, both teams converted in the seventh round.  UWEC opened the eighth round with a conversion by Mercedes Wilson (So. – Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine), but Lefaive kept the Blugolds' season alive with a big save in the Pointers' attempt, giving UWEC the 5-4 edge to advance.

The Blugolds (9-7-2) will play top-seeded UW-La Crosse in La Crosse for the WIAC title on Saturday at 6 p.m. Eau Claire will look to claim their first conference tournament championship since 2007.  Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
