Blugolds down Titans, advance to WIAC semifinals

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team defeated UW-Oshkosh 3-0 on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's).

The Blugolds, seeded third in the tournament, scored 10 minutes into the contest, with Mercedes Wilson (So. – Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine) getting credited with the goal and Emily Sullivan (Jr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata) earning the assist.

Wilson would tack on another goal at the 58:04 mark to net her sixth goal of the season. Hannah Schaetzel (So. – Germantown, WI) would tally the assist.

Less than 10 minutes later, Sullivan would seal the win over the sixth-seeded Titans with Ellie Lochner (Jr. – Phillips, WI) getting the assist.

Eau Claire outshot the Titans 17-11 and led 5-3 in corner kicks. Sammy Lefaive (Sr. – Coon Rapids, MN) tallied her 9th win of the season in goal saving all 8 shots on the day.
