EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's Soccer team held Senior and Alumni Day this Saturday as they took on WIAC (Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) opponent UW-Stout. The UW-Eau Claire Blugolds looked to secure another conference win to remain in third place in the WIAC and stay ahead of UW-Oshkosh. Eau Claire would secure that win with three players scoring their first goals of the season.

In the first half, the Blugolds would score early and often. Hannah Schaetzel (So. – Germantown, WI) would get Eau Claire the first tally and record her first goal of the season. Krista Koenig (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) would get credited with an assist on the goal and later in the half, score a goal of her own. It would be Koenig's first goal of the season and Mckenna Gieske (So. – Blaine, MN/Centennial) would add a third late into the half for her first goal as well.  The Blugolds would conclude the half outshooting the Blue Devils ten to one.

The flurry of goals in the first would carry over after halftime as the Blugolds' leading goal scorer, Emily Sullivan (Jr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata), would net her ninth goal of the season to shut down any hope for a Stout comeback. With minutes remaining, Ellie Lochner would also get herself in the goal column for the first time this season scoring in the 81st minute. Eau Claire would keep the pedal to the metal totaling another seven shots to close out the game with 17 total.

Sammie Lefaive (Sr. – Coon Rapids, MN) stopped the only shot she faced, recording her eighth win of the season and earning her fourth shutout of the year to improve her season record to 8-6-1.

The Blugolds will start WIAC tournament play on Tuesday, October 30th at 2PM against the #6 seed. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
