EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team hosted Gustavus Adolphus College in their last non-conference game on Wednesday and despite being down early, the Blugolds would rally to knock in three unanswered goals and come out on top, 3-1.

Box Score

Anna Kautzman (So. - Champlin, MN) would score the equalizing goal with just 10 minutes remaining in the first half. This would be Kautzman's first goal on the year and first of her career. Krista Koenig (Fr. – Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) would be credited with the assist.

In the second half, the Blugolds wasted no time extending their lead. With Monica Zoellner (Sr. – East Troy, WI) and Mercedes Wilson (So. – Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine) scoring just minutes apart, it would be the Blugold defense shutting down the ever-hungry Gusties. Emily Sullivan (Jr. – Medina, MN) and Mary Wilhemy earned assists on the two Blugold goals.

For the game, Eau Claire outshot Gustavus 21-7 and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

Anna Sveiven (So. – Blaine, MN) earned the win in goal, tallying three saves in 45 minutes of play while Sammy Lefaive (Sr. – Coon Rapids, MN) recorded two saves in the first half.

The Blugolds (6-6-1, 2-1-1 WIAC) will be back on the pitch for WIAC (Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) play on Saturday as they travel to La Crosse, Wis. to take on the Eagles. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
