ST. PAUL (Blugolds.com) – Despite scoring the first goal of the game, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team fell on the road to No. 16 University of St. Thomas on Tuesday by a score of 4-1.
Mercedes Wilson (So. – Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine) recorded her second goal of the season after dribbling into the box and getting a shot past the St. Thomas goalie at 11:48.
The Blugold lead was short-lived as the Tommies scored in the 13th minute and got the go-ahead goal moments later.
In the second half, St. Thomas' Megan Zickert scored two goals to seal the win.
St. Thomas held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks and a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal. Anna Sveiven (So. – Blaine, MN) took the loss in goal, recording five save on the day.
