Soccer falls to Wartburg, 3-1

WAVERLY, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team took on Wartburg College on Wednesday night, falling to the Knights 3-1.

Though the Blugolds outshot the Knights 7-5 in the first half, Wartburg took the lead early, as Joy Smith scored her first goal of the game at 7:53 and her second at 18:45.

The Knights would tack on another goal later in the second half before Eau Claire would tally their only goal of the night. Kayla Jedrzejewski (Fr. – New Berlin, WI/Eisenhower) recorded her second goal of the season thanks to an assist from Addie Johnson (So. – St. Michael, MN/St. Michael-Albertsville).

The two squads would each finish the second half with six shots, giving Eau Claire the slight edge (13-11) for the game but it was Wartburg who would go home with the win.

Sammy Lefaive (Sr. – Coon Rapids, MN) took the loss in goal, recording six saves on the night.
