WHITEWATER, Wisc. (Blugolds.com) The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team played their first conference road game at UW-Whitewater on Saturday. The Blugolds were looking to get their second conference win but ended up losing in a close match with a 1-0 final.
The game was scoreless until the final 15 minutes of action. It was UW-Whitewater's Alyssa Lennon who scored the only goal of the game in the 78th minute.
Mercedes Wilson (Fr.– Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine) and Emily Sullivan (So.– Medina, MN/Wayzata) led the way in shots for Eau Claire with two each. Goalkeeper Anna Sveiven (Fr.— Blaine, MN/Blaine) recorded eight saves on the day.
The Blugolds (4-6-1, 1-1 WIAC) will travel to UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday. The game is set for a 4:00 p.m. start. Follow all of the action on Blugold Game Day.
