Soccer falls to Blazers, 3-2

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team hosted the College of Saint Benedict Saturday, falling by score of 3-2.

Saint Benedict came out firing early, scoring two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

UW-Eau Claire made it 2-1 with a goal in the 60th minute as Mary Wilhemy (Fr. – Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) snuck a shot just under the cross bar to score her first goal as a Blugold.

However, in the 65th minute, the Blazers scored again to increase their lead.

Lauren Lenz (Sr. – Saint Germain, WL/Northland Pines) added one final goal in the 73rd minute but it would not be enough to give the Blugolds their first win of the season.

Saint Benedict outshot Eau Claire 16-12, including a 12-6 margin in shots on net.

The Blugolds (0-3) will have a quick turnaround as they host the University of Dubuque Sunday at 3 p.m. Follow all the action on Blugold Game Day.
