Four Blugolds earn All-WIAC honors

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Four Blugolds were named to the 2016 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Soccer Team, as selected by the league coaches.

Caroline Henderson (Sr. – Duluth, MN/East) earned first team honors for the third time in her career. The fifth-year senior came back after a season-ending knee injury in 2015 to lead the Blugolds in goals (8), points (17), shots on goal (18), shot percentage (.348) and game-winning goals (4).

Joining Henderson on the first team were midfielder Emily Sullivan (Fr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata), defender Lauren Lenz (Jr. – Saint Germain, WI/Northland Pines) and goalkeeper Sammie Lefaive (Jr. – Coon Rapids, WI).

Sullivan made a big impact in her first year in the Blugold uniform, tallying three goals, eight points, 14 shots on goal and one game-winning goal.

Lenz and Lafaive were the rocks of the UW-Eau Claire defense that was third in the WIAC in goals against average (.91). In goal, Lafaive recorded 94 saves with a save percentage of .855 on the season. Overall, the junior had a goal-against average of .86 in 18 games played.

In addition, Eva Charlesworth-Seiler (So. – Golden Valley, MN/Hopkins) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Eau Claire finished third in the WIAC with a 4-2-1 conference record and 8-9-2 overall record.
