EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – Head women’s soccer coach Sean Yengo and the UW-Eau Claire women’s soccer team have released the Blugolds’ 2015 schedule.
Eau Claire will open the season against Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minn. on September 1 and have their home opener on September 9 as they host Bethel (Minn.).
“We are really excited for the 2015 season,” said Yengo. “We return a majority of our team, including a solid supporting cast. That, along with one of my strongest recruiting classes in my 19 years as a head coach; I simply cannot wait until our first practice on August 19th.”
The 2015 season will also include a trip to the west coast over Labor Day weekend. The Blugolds will face Lewis & Clark and George Fox.
“I’m excited to take the team to Portland this year,” said Yengo. “The team has been working hard to fundraise for this trip. One of next year’s seniors, Tara Dennehy (Jr. Eugene, OR/Churchill) is from Eugene so it will be great for us to play in her neck of the woods.”
The Blugolds, who finished 8-10-2 overall and 5-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will open WIAC play at home on September 19 against UW-River Falls.
The team also announced the captains for 2015: Ashley Seymour (Jr. Verona, WI), Megan Hanson (Jr. Verona, WI) and Ashley O'Connell (Jr. Appleton, WI/East).
