Both teams were coming off two-game win streaks, and were both 2-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).

The Eagles scored the lone goal of the day the 23rd minute after Alex Cording sent a pass to Cassie Handrick who found the back of the net. The Blugolds pushed back but could not score, and the first half ended with Eau Claire having three shots and La Crosse with four.

The Blugolds came out strong the second half, as they maintained pressure throughout the game. There were a few chances for the Blugolds, but they could not execute to score the game-tying goal. Tara Dennehy (Sr. Eugene OR) led the Blugold team with two of their seven total shots.

Eau Claire (3-5-3, 2-1 WIAC) will play Wheaton (8-3) College at Bollinger Field. The game is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
