PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The No. 21-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team returned to conference action on Tuesday night, falling to UW-Platteville, 24-20.
Thomas Severson (So. - Marathon/D.C. Everest) tallied a win for the Blugolds at 133, defeating Luke Pradel by major decision, 13-4.
Tyler Demo (So. – Loves Park, IL/Belvidere North) followed with a major decision win at 141 over Chase Katzenmeyer (8-0) while Jake Drexler (So. - Stratford) tallied a pin over Garrett Ruckdashel at 149 (6:53).
Evan Lawrence (Jr. - Hugo, MN/Mahtomedi) also recorded a pin for Eau Claire, defeating Nick Dado (2:41), but the Pioneers would claim victories in the final three matches to earn the conference win.
Next up for the Blugolds (6-2) is a trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania Jan. 10-11 for the Budd Whitehill Duals, hosted by Lycoming College. Eau Claire will face York (PA) in the first round on Friday.
