Wrestling narrowly falls to Stevens Point, 22-20

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team took on UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday night, coming up just short with a 22-20 loss to the Pointers.

In their third-straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual, the Blugolds had another tight match. Newcomer Jake Drexler (Fr. – Stratford, WI) had another strong showing for the Blugolds, recording a pin at 141 pounds over Stevens Point's Mason Wheeler (2:19) to pick up his 10th win of the season and improve to 10-6 overall.

Heavyweight Austen Hakes (So. – River Falls, WI) also tallied a fall for Eau Claire, taking down Steven Anderson at 4:41 to bring his overall record to 11-2 on the season.

David Dudych (So. - West Dundee, IL/Harry D. Jacobs) also earned a win at 149, defeating Alex Heiden by decision 8-3 while Jack Marley (Fr. – Trempealeau, WI/Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau) won by forfeit at 125.
