Vogt Named 2017 NWCA Scholar All-American

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) recently announced their 2017 Scholar All-Americans, and earning the honors from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team was Tyler Vogt (Jr.-Owatonna, MN).

In 2017, the 174-pounder competed for the Blugolds in his first season after wrestling for two years at Rochester Community and Technical College. Vogt finished his 2017 season with a record of 21-19 with four pinfalls and four technical falls.

Vogt majors in kinesiology and has a grade point average of 3.26.

In order to become an NWCA Scholar All-American, the following criteria must be met: a GPA of 3.2 or greater for the previous academic year or a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or greater; at the current school for the entire 2016-2017 school year; and at least one of the following wrestling criteria: NCAA qualifier with a winning record; finish in the top six at the NCAA regional while competing in at least half of the team's scheduled competitions and compiling a winning record; and win at least 67% of his matches while competing in at least 50% of the team's scheduled competitions.
