Brackets set for NCAA Wrestling Championships

INDIANAPOLIS (Blugolds.com) – The NCAA Division III Wrestling Committee released the brackets for the 2016 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship Monday night. Two Blugolds, Nathaniel Behnke (Sr.- Bruce, WI) and Roy Munroe (Sr.- Cadott, WI) will complete at the national tournament.

Behnke will wrestle at 141 and Munroe at 149 pounds. Behnke (22-3) will face Alvontae Drummond (14-5) of McDaniel on Friday morning while Munroe (22-3) will face Daniel Del Gallo (4-1) of Southern Maine.

The championships will be held March 11-12 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Cornell College will serve as the host. Friday's first session will begin at 11 a.m. while Session II will begin at 6 p.m. and will determine the eight All-Americans by the end of the night. Saturday's championship semifinals are at 10 a.m. and include third-, fifth- and seventh-place matches. The finals are set for 7 p.m.

A total of 180 participants will compete. Wrestlers qualify for the championship by placing in the top three in their respective weight classes at one of the six NCAA regional tournaments. Both Behnke and Munroe finished second in their weight classes at the regional meet in Minneapolis on February 28.
