EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team hosted the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Tuesday night, defeating the Titans 30-11 and winning the First Annual Chancellor's Cup.
With both chancellor's in attendance, the Blugolds dominated the Titans as they tallied three pins on the night. Zackary Sirny (Jr.- Wild Rose, WI) notched the first win and pin (2:16) at 125 pounds, defeating Jonathan Flores. Jeremy Amundson (Jr.-Osceola, WI) and Justin Karkula (Jr.-Oshkosh, WI/West) earned the other two pins, defeating Parker Knueppel at 184 and Elijah Burdick at 285, respectively.
Nathaniel Behnke (Sr.-Bruce, WI) continued his winning ways, defeating Levi Smith 6-1 at 141 pounds while brother Ryan Behnke (Jr.-Bruce,WI) shut-out Nick Monty 7-0 at 165.
Carter Focht (So. -Pine Springs, MN/Mahtomedi) and Cecil Philson (So.-Thorp, WI) also recorded wins for the Blugolds as Focht defeated Joe Pelkey 8-4 at 157 and Philson defeated John DePersia 9-3 at 193.
The Blugolds return to the mat Saturday as they travel to Whitewater for the Border Brawl, hosted by UW-Whitewater.
